Well guys, we've made it in one piece. Have just finished our whirlwind tour of bangkok - very amused by out tuk-tuk drivers. We thought we'd get our holiday off to a good start with a few Chang beers down Kao Sahn rd last night. Was everything we expected: huge, neon signs, loads of stalls and even 2 enormous elephants parading through. What a great way to start our holiday!
We've seen loads of things - The Black Buddha (which is actually not at all black but gold, leading us to wonder if we were even in the right place!), The Golden Mount (millions and millions of stairs!) and the amazing Grand Palace.
We also managed to blag our own personal long-boat tour through the canals. It is amazing to see some of the most beautiful buildings we've ever seen alongside the ones that looked like they could fall in the river at any moment (and some protruding logs attest to this already happening to some poor sods!) We bought a bag of bread from some locals to feed a great bubbling mass of catfish, they were so competitive to get the food that we got considerably wet frm the struggle. We've booked an overnight train to Chaing Mai tonight. Our 2 beds and a fan may not match up to our lovely air-conditioned room that we were in for our first night, running water and everything!
